DEADLOCK, AND THE MPPAA

BACKGROUND

Mark is one of only a handful of arbitrators in the country to have handled a significant number of cases under the various sections of ERISA.
After the passage of the 1980 Multiemployer Pension Plan Amendments Act, he was a participant in the very first joint International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans training program under the American Arbitration Association, and he has been arbitrating withdrawal liability cases ever since. For a number of years, Mark was also the permanent arbitrator for trustee deadlocks under the United Mineworkers of America 1993 Benefit Plan. He has abundant experience in each of these areas.
